Jack W. Hammeger died peacefully at home with his daughter by his side on August 13, 2019. He is survived by his only child Cidny Hammeger Klein and her husband Irwin Klein of Bal Harbour Florida. Mr. Hammeger was born in Whipple Ohio on August 4, 1929 and was the only child of Roy and Laura Kathary Hammeger. Mr. Hammeger had a long and successful career with the United States Government. He was a veteran of the Korean War and then served as a Border Patrol Agent in the 50’s before moving to Seattle Washington with the US Customs Service. His beloved wife Donelda Bentley Hammeger predeceased him in 1997. They had spent their 10-year retirement RV’ing full time before settling in Sun City West were Mr. Hammeger has spent the past 22 years. Jack was an ardent story teller, an amateur pilot, a skydiver and an avid coin collector. In his last years he enjoyed feeding the humming birds, trying to get a kumquat tree to produce a decent kumquat and sitting on his patio watching the golfers behind his house. One week before his death he celebrated his 90th birthday with friends and family. He was truly loved and is missed everyday. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for their support.
Mr. Hammeger's ashes will be taken to Mount Rainier where his wife's ashes were laid 22 years ago.
