Joe was born in Kearny, NJ on March 8, 1955 to Joseph and Stella (Stepanski) Petro. He was married to Shirley (Moulaison) Ann Petro for 44 years and raised two boys. After graduating from Sayreville War Memorial High School he went on to the New Jersey Institute of Technology and studied architecture. Joe worked in structural engineering for over 28 years, helping to build unique and popular structures in the New York and Phoenix metropolitan areas. Joe had a passion for the outdoors, leading as Scoutmaster for the local boy scout troop 54 on countless adventures and excursions. He also loved history and the arts, being himself skilled at sketching. Joe had a rebellious spirit and a creative mind. But most of all, Joe will be missed for his unceasing humor and gentle charm. Joe is survived by his wife Shirley, sons Mark (wife Autumn) and Dan (wife Alicia), and brothers Ronald and Thomas (wife Lisa). He is also survived by three grandchildren, Winter, Erik, and Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Stella, as well as two brothers: Mark and Carl.

Service Information

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Best Funeral Services (9380 W. Peoria Ave. Peoria, AZ 85345), on Sunday September 1 at 10 o’clock AM, with a burial of remains at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Parlin, NJ, on Saturday September 21st, time to be announced.
