Andrew Vincent Moccaldi; Andy, Dad or Papa to most, was born to Italian immigrant parents Antonio and Vincenza Colasanto in Brooklyn, NY. He was the youngest of seven children. Andy attended Our Lady of Peace School. Andy raised homing pigeons as a boy and had a compassion for animals. He rubbed elbows with Frank Sinatra and Jimmy Durante and frequented speakeasies, Andy met Rosemarie Luongo and they married soon after. The newlyweds moved to Phoenix due to Rosemarie's health problems. They settled in a house on Garfield Street. Andy worked at St. Joseph's Hospital and remained there for 40 years, working as a Plant Services Engineer. Andy and Rosemarie had 3 children; Joanne (Rob), Mary (Bill) and Andrew (Kim). They later moved to west Phoenix and then finally to central Phoenix. He liked to assemble toys and build ships in bottles. Andy had an infectious laugh and charmed everyone. Everyone knew him by name everywhere we went. He loved going to Greektown where he was known as "Pops." He was rarely ill and never complained. He played tennis in his 80's. Andy loved life and was a patient grandfather to Nicholas, Vince, Rachel, Kevin, Tony (Susannah), Joey, Cara, Carter. He died peacefully in his own home. Special thanks to his caregivers who gave him life and to Valerie Littlejohn, from Serenity Hospice, who kept him company after Rosemarie died. His loss is significant to all who knew him. Rest in Peace Dad, we'll love you forever.
