Avinash Karsandas Thakrar passed away on Wednesday, November 3rd after a tough battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family in his final hours and passed away peacefully. His passing has left a gaping hole in the hearts of his loved ones, but he will always live on in our memories. He was a generous, kind and supportive man who was always there to extend a helping hand, a loving heart and a genuine smile. Avinash was born in Uganda, son of late Karsandas and Devkurben Thakrar, on June 22nd, 1949. He had a very joyous and active childhood along with his seven siblings with whom he maintained a tight bond throughout his life. He completed his undergraduate degree in Uganda in 1968. He shared his wisdom and expertise through teaching until 1971. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he came to the United States on scholarship in pursuit of his Masters in Electrical Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington. After receiving his Masters degree in 1976, he then began a very long and successful career in Electrical Engineering with his name then tied to a number of groundbreaking and innovative designs. In his later years, he focused on living a healthy lifestyle (mind, body, spirit) with daily juicing, cycling, hiking and spending quality time with family and friends. He was one-of-a-kind and an loving family man. He was the type of man who always believed in spreading kindness - even with strangers and passersby - and always looked for ways to bring people joy. The engineer in him also continued to personify him into retirement, where he continued to look for ways to learn and challenge his mind. No job or task was too complicated or too big, and it was evident, even in the end, that he had a sharp and witty mind. Despite an intense battle with cancer, he continued to live life with such hope, courage and positivity and spread love and joy wherever he went and with whomever he met. He will always be a beautiful example to live by and emulate.
