Betty Bennett Dyer, age 94, passed away surrounded by her friends and family on October 31, 2019, at 3:15 p.m. at the Amethyst Arbor Senior Lifestyle Community in Peoria, Arizona. Betty was born in Thomaston, Georgia, in Upson County, September 29, 1925. She was the daughter of Eldred Aiken Bennett and Frances Reeves Bennett. She lived in Georgia, Florida, and New York as a child. She went to college in Florida. As a multi-talented woman, she had a number of careers during her life. Betty was an English teacher, an airline stewardess for Pan American, worked for E.I. Dupont Company during WWII, and served as a correspondent for the US Government in Korea while working for Syngman Rhee. She later moved to San Francisco and worked at the P.G.& E. Company. She met her husband of 71 years, Elmer Dyer, in San Francisco and became a wife and mother in Yuba City, California. Betty became an accountant for a variety of companies and after retiring from that career, she started a new one as an interior decorator for J.C. Penney, achieving the prestigious Million Dollar Club Award. Betty loved to garden, read, remodel homes, volunteer for the Catholic Church, and write letters to people. Betty and her husband, Elmer, moved to Sun City Arizona in 1990. She volunteered to do accounting for the Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. In 2017 they moved to Amethyst Arbor and was an active community member.
Memorial Services will be held at Amethyst Arbor in the Family Room on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at 2:00 PM. Address: Amethyst Arbor, 9257 W. Union Hills Dr., Peoria, AZ 85282.
