Date of Birth: February 11, 1941
Date of Death: April 11, 2021
Betty Jane Alford 80, of Peoria, AZ, passed away on April 11, 2021 in Mesa, AZ. Betty was born in Jamestown, NY daughter to Dorothy and Raymond McKoon on February 11, 1941. She worked for the City of Phoenix for 23 years. We are comforted in knowing she is preceded in death by her mother and father, 3 brothers Ronald, Maxwell (Pete), Conrad (Bub), sister Patricia and her eldest son Dennis. Betty is survived by Tim Alford and wife Vicky, of North East, PA; daughters Sherry and Tammy Alford of Phoenix, Az; daughter-in-law Donnetta Alford of Phoenix, AZ, 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. After leaving her east coast roots and exploring a little of the US, Betty settled down in Arizona. She started work for the city of Phoenix in 1980. Worked for 23 years with little complaint, she looked forward to the accomplishment of retirement after which she took up different hobbies. She really enjoyed bead work and exploring Arizona by way of day trips, she also loved Goodwill shopping, which she was a pro at. Betty enjoyed a quiet and private life and would often remind us, with humor, that she “didn’t need anyone in her business”, but she also loved a good adventure and was always game to get a little wild. She had a small circle of friends and family that she made time for and I am sure all have a story or two to tell. She was easy going and had a seemingly endless well of patience but was also fiercely independent and strong, living life on her own terms every day.
Betty is being cremated at Best Funeral Services 9380 W. Peoria, AZ 85345. There is will a memorial later in the fall date yet to be announced.
