Date of Death: August 30, 2019
Bhagwandas Maganlal Dalal passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 30, 2019 at the age of 87. He was surrounded by his beloved family in his last days. Bhagwandas was born in Bombay, India on September 21, 1931. He lost his father at a young age, but pursued his studies while supporting himself and family through tutoring and other odd jobs. As an electrical engineer, he traveled throughout India and the rest of the world, pioneering novel engineering techniques in infrastructure industries. He and his wife, Lata Dalal, built their home of 40+ years in Sweethome Society, Ahmedabad, where they raised their children, Urvi and Dhaval. After retiring, he dedicated his time to helping NGOs in India and raising his grandchildren, Meha, Roohi and Nihar. He also cultivated a love of writing, spanning detailed Roman history accounts and fictional screenplays to translating classics from English to Gujarati. Helping others was a lifelong passion of his, from volunteering with the Bombay Ambulance Corps at a young age and his long-standing commitment to the Lions Club of Vatva, to setting up partnerships between American non-profits and Indian schools. In his final years, he lived in Phoenix with both his children and their families. His battle with Alzheimer’s was additionally supported by Pacifica Memory Care and Hospice of the Valley.
Memorial Service (Prarthana Sabha): 7:00-8:30 PM, September 9, 2019. Best Funeral Services, 501 E Dunlap Avenue, Phoenix, AZ-85020.
In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations to Hospice of the Valley. They have provided immense support to both Bhagwandas and his family in the past two years, in the form of both physical care and emotional counseling.
