Bret was so loved and family to me. He was a joyful presence at family gatherings and always fun to be around! He helped me fix my first car after I got into my first parking lot accident, was the only person I’ve actually witnessed eat a “double down” from KFC, and surprisingly didn’t get a speeding ticket when I begged him to floor his corvette on Tucson Blvd. after convincing him to take me for a ride! He will be sorely missed, but remembered always.
My heart goes out to all of Bret’s family and friends. Bret had a big heart and I know his loss will leave a empty space in yours. May it be filled with his laughter and memories. He was so full of life and enjoyed his cars and hobbies. May his memory be eternal.
Brett was a good man and a gentle soul. I will miss him.
My condolences to the Garner family. I have fond memories of Brett from high school and knew he would turn out to be awesome person.
You will be remembered as a kind-hearted, happy-go-lucky, deeply caring soul who jumped at the chance to be of service. You were a dedicated, tremendously loving partner to Timna and a reliable, reassuring presence for her son Ian. You cherished your beautiful daughter Lauren and your granddaughter Sofia and had an unbreakable bond with your family as well as all the friends who became family. You will always be special to the 15-year-old me as well as the 50+ me. And I am so incredibly thankful we were recently able to spend quality time together — reminiscing, laughing, and trying new beers.
There are no words to help any of us, your loved ones, understand this loss. But I do hope we learn from what you represented. To give to others however we can and to live every day as best we can. Gunga lagunga, Bret.
So Thankful to have shared 20 wonderful years with Bret. I guess you could say we pretty much grew up together during our relationship. And so very glad we remained friends in the end.

His passion for cars. We’ll I think most of us know how fond he was of cars. especially his corvette. His baby. He knew every little detail about that car. He taught me the value of respect & care of a vehicle. Thank you. I will always remember that .
And his dog Sheena. He loved her so much. What a beautiful reunion there must be in heaven right now.
Bret had a love for racing. Drag racing. He loved being out at the Dragstrip along side with his cousin Greg and the rest of the crew.

How do you say goodbye to someone that you never expected to?
Bret has popped in and out of my life since I was 15 years old. I am so thankful that the last time we crossed paths was the right time for both of us. To be loved by someone at that capacity and depth has been an honor that I will treasure. He was a supportive partner to me and a loving, caring influence to my son, Ian. Bret was such an easy going soul, a nice person and helpful beyond words to everyone around him.
To all of us who have lost him may we support each other with grace and love as we navigate this path we never expected to be on. I will miss him all the days of my life.
