Cody was a cherished member of his family and community. He was born on July 14th, 1996, in Omaha, Nebraska. He is survived by his parents: Chrissy Simpson and Austin Spegel, his four sisters: Jessica Hobaugh, Allyson Simpson, Sierra Peterson, Samantha Plechas, and his brother Austin Wachter. Cody was loving and intelligent beyond bounds with almost legendary physical strength. Growing up, Cody loved reading everything from the dictionary to encyclopedias and playing with his army men and figurines. As he grew older, he became active in several online gaming communities, where he shared his excellent imagination and writing genius through his creative stories. After graduating from Barry Goldwater High School of Phoenix, AZ in 2014, Cody found his profession in metalworking in the air conditioning industry. He was also quite the outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, camping and shooting. Cody's life was rich with relationships, characterized by his funny, creative, clever, strong-willed, generous, hospitable, kind, loyal, and fearless nature. He was a beloved and respected member of not just friends and family circles, but several online role-play gaming communities.

Service Information

Cody's Celebration of Life will be held at Best Funeral Services: 501 E Dunlap Ave Phoenix AZ 85020 on November 15th at 10-11 am. A reception will follow at Venture Church 15410 North 67th Avenue Glendale Arizona 85306 from 1-3pm. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all those who helped plan his Celebration of Life.

We invite friends and family to share their favorite memories and photos of Cody. A recent photo of him, along with other treasured images from his life. The family asks that all photos and short written memories be submitted to cody.memory@gmail.com to be displayed during the service to commemorate the joy he brought into our lives.
