“All the others fell when Fate decided they must. Now I must follow them.” -Beowulf Darren Falkenburry, 55, of Phoenix Arizona, passed away on October 17, 2023 as a result of battling injuries sustained from a car accident.. Darren was born on August 28, 1968, to Caryn Jackson and David Falkenburry in St. Petersburg, Florida. As a teenager, Darren was full of charisma and developed a passion for life and people. He was a man who loved good art, and who himself was a great craftsman. He was a skilled carpenter, and matured to become an expert in the commercial door industry. He was a valued employee at DH Pace for over 24 years where he was an exceptional salesman, and took great pride in his work. His work ethic was further driven by his duty to be a good father. He will be forever honored in this life by his children, Robert and Jessica. He imparted in them emotional intelligence, work ethic, love for everyone without judgment, and a passion for music. There was nothing more valuable to Darren than his children. Darren spent his life exploring his taste in music, something that provided a powerful outlet. Heavy metal music provided him something more valuable than anything money could buy: comradery, passion, a way to cope, a way to celebrate, and a way to feel alive. He was always on the search for live music, it didn't have to be metal, just anybody with the nerve to get on stage and perform. He especially supported and encouraged local artists, because he saw potential in everyone, and believed that everyone deserves a shot in this life. Lastly, he knew how to have fun and had many outlets beyond work, family, and music. He was a vital member of off-road racing teams, especially in Mexico. He traveled long distances to offer his expertise, free labor, emotional, and mechanical support. He enjoyed boating, attending live sporting events, and just about anything else where he could be surrounded by power and excitement. He had an appetite for living life to its fullest and perfected the art of having a good time. Darren was a master at connecting with others, it was his true life’s work, and having a meaningful conversation with you was his daily goal. He was humble and encouraged everyone to follow their passions. His cup was always full, his spirit always high and his voice always very, very loud. He made his friends and family feel alive. That feeling will be held tight, and never abandoned. Darren is survived by his daughter, Jessica Falkenburry, and his son Robert Slone. He will be dearly missed by his siblings: Shane Falkenburry and Angela Ferry along with both of his parents: David Falkenburry and Caryn Jackson-Costello. A memorial service will be held for family, close friends, and colleagues at the Flanders Residence at 6341 W Wagoner Rd, Glendale, AZ 85308 on Sunday, October 29, at 3PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time for Darren’s metal community, friends, and family where his comrades will perform live music in his honor.
