Donna Jean Oltersdorf, 89, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away peacefully September 15, 2020.She was born in Elgin, Illinois and spent her childhood in Illinois and Washington state, later moving with her children to Arizona. Donna's primary focus and joy throughout her life was her family. She was a homemaker and mother to six children, loved to travel, and was an animal lover, always having pets, including dogs, cats, and birds. She enjoyed supporting her children in their 4-H activities including raising calves, goats, chickens, ducks, lambs, and competing in equestrian events. Her travels with her husband and children took her throughout the United States, and included many camping and boating trips to cabins, lakes and forests throughout Northern Arizona, Rocky Point, Mexico, and Colorado. She was a pillar of strength throughout her life, becoming a widow with four young children at age 29, and doing a phenomenal job of raising them, and adding two more children through a subsequent marriage. She also was very soft-hearted when she became aware of extended family members struggling to get by, providing help to them on numerous occasions. During her retirement years, she married Charles “Chuck” Oltersdorf. Together, they traveled through the United States, and enjoyed the cool weather in their summer homes in Colorado or Northern Arizona. They had many fun adventures and excursions and truly had a “Golden” retirement. Donna is survived by her children (and their spouses), Rita (Terry) Buffard, Renell (Cindy) Odum, Lonnie Ward, Randy (Rose) Odum, Les (Cathy) Ward; grandchildren, Ren Odum, Kyle (Lacey) Buffard, Melissa (Matt) Dennett, Kaelyn Buffard, and Nathan Ward; great-grandchildren Alayna, Heinrich, Ayden, Luke, and Zoey, as well as nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Oltersdorf, son, Ronald Wayne Odum, brother Hazen Kroff, and her parents Shirley R. Kroff and Emma M. Walker.
