Garth D. Ruchin, 73, passed peacefully on August 19, 2020, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Garth was born at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, to Morris and Gertrude Ruchin on February 7, 1947. He graduated from Conard High School in 1965 and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Hartford in 1969. While a young marketing professional, he was an active member in the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees), where he co-chaired their 1983 National Convention in Hartford, CT. He was civic-minded and served his community throughout his life, volunteering for numerous support groups, small community organizations, and national political campaigns. At home, he was a gourmet chef, dedicated husband and father, and avid Boston Red Sox fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Susan (Hogan) Ruchin, of Anthem, AZ; his two sons, Matthew Ruchin and wife, Narissa Nonzee, of Los Angeles, CA, and Todd Ruchin, of Coquille, OR; his brother, Earl Ruchin and wife, Sandy, of Dracut, MA; and will be forever remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Charlie, who continues to dutifully sit by his chair looking for head rubs, parmesan cheese, and any other treats that might fall his way.
