Gertrude Krueger Groth passed away on September 20th, 2012 in Surprise, Arizona after a long illness.
She was born in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, daughter of William C. and Eleanor Krueger. She graduated from Cedarburg High School and thereafter attended business school. On August 30th, 1941, she married Marvin H. Groth, her beloved husband of almost 65 years. God blessed them with 2 children, Suzanne and David. They lived in Cedarburg where she worked in the business offices of local merchants and they raised their children. In 1985 they moved to Sun City West, Arizona where they enjoyed living close to her siblings, became charter members of Crown of Life Lutheran Church, and together volunteered over 5000 hours for Sun Health Foundation.
Gert was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her sister Lucille and her brothers Donald and William. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Suzanne (Peter) Gruman of Sun City West, and son David (Christine) of Hartland, Wisconsin. She will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren Keri Gruman Patterson, husband Chris and children Caleb, Hope, Issac, and Titus of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Dan Gruman, wife Maeluen and children Noah and Eli of Lenexa, Kansas, William Groth who is currently deployed in the U.S. Airforce, and James Groth of Boston, Massachusetts, as well as relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Crown of Life Lutheran Church on Friday, October 5th at 11:00 am. in Sun City West. A devotional tribute will also be held at Rock Creek Special Care Center in Surprise, Arizona at 3:00 pm. later that day.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Crown of Life Lutheran Church, The Alzheimer’s Association, or Sun Health Foundation.
