JAMES ANTHONY LEVINS June 11, 1932 – January 26, 2021 James Anthony Levins, 88, passed away on January 26, 2021 at his son’s home in Phoenix, Arizona, surrounded by family. He was born June 11, 1932 in Glen Cove, NY to his loving parents, James and Pauline Levins. James loved to write, was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bingo and bowling. He was a long-time New York Yankee fan. He loved coaching baseball and youth sports when his sons were growing up. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He mentored many and was always your biggest fan. James graduated from Maryknoll Jr Seminary in 1950. He attended Maryknoll Jr College until June 1952. In September 1952 he joined the Air Force and left for basic training in Corpus Christi, Texas. He served as a Bombardier/Navigator in a B-29 Flight Crew prior to the end of the Korean War. In 1955, he met his future wife and best friend, Marty, and they were married in June 1956. They celebrated 64 years of marriage in June 2020. James worked in the Aerospace Industry for over 35 years as a Financial Manager. He retired from TRW in 1996. James was a devout Catholic and enjoyed teaching CCD, working on the Parish Council and was active in the Catholic Church. James was proudest of the loving family that he and Martha raised together. He was proud father of 8 children, 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pauline and his great- granddaughter, Levins. James is survived by his wife, Marty Levins; children Deborah Mutton of Las Vegas and her husband, James, James Levins of Carson City, John Levins and wife, Kim of Meadview, Arizona, Loretta Mounts and husband, Wayne of Abbeville, SC, Joseph Levins of Encinitas, CA, Peter Levins and wife, Debra of Phoenix, Az, Bridget Gengler and husband, Michael of Lakewood, CA, and Erin Shipman and husband, Jason of Long Beach, CA.; grandchildren, Paige Mutton and partner AJ Belloumini of Las Vegas, James Cole Levins and fiancé, Abigail of Reno, NV, Kori Torres and husband Bryce of Carson City ,NV, Amber Astamendi and husband, Rob of San Diego, CA, April Levins and partner, Ted Watson of Dana Point, CA, Adam Levins and wife, Natalie of Oceanside, CA, Kyle Mounts and wife, Cullie of Clover, SC, Marissa Robinson and husband, Paul of Clover, SC, Lindsay Tenpas and husband, Ryan of Yorba Linda, CA, Ashlyn Merriweather and husband, Willie of Glen Burnie, MD, Kamryn Levins of Glen Burnie, MD, Ryan Levins and wife, McKenna of Phoenix, AZ, Matthew Levins and wife, Taylor of Phoenix, AZ, Ryan Gengler, Christian Gengler, Grace Culqui and Peter Culqui all of Lakewood, CA, Sofia Shipman and Abigail Shipman of Long Beach, CA; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Catalina, Harper, Baylon, Breslin, Parker, Grayson, Ty, Turner, Trey, Cora, Madeleine, Rett, Lola, Miles, Nolan, Jordan, Summer, Alle, Imani, Aminah, Dominic and Levi; siblings, Loretta Tracy and husband Leo of Tucson, Az, Ronnie McGrady of Long Island, NY, Jerry Levins and wife, Ada of Vancouver, WA, Paula Tyrone and husband, Booker of Pflugerville, Tx.
Catholic Memorial Mass was held January 30, 2021 at St Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona with immediate family. Memorial Service will be at Southern NV Veteran’s Memorial Cemetary in Boulder City in June (date TBD), followed by a reception in Pahrump, NV.
