Date of Birth: March 17, 1970
Date of Death: June 26, 2019
James was born to Everett A. Leff and Linda B. DeClercq Leff McGrew on March 17, 1970 in Kewanee, Illinois. He received his G.E.D. and worked in construction, specializing as a painter. When James was happy, his eyes lit up with a mischievous twinkle and his laughter would not be contained. He was loving, gentle and had a big heart. He felt deeply and yearned for love. He found it with his wife Shannon. His great joy was his daughter, Christian. James struggled with many challenges in his life; made mistakes and bad decisions. He suffered pain and caused others pain. He strove to make amends and made valiant effort to do better- succeeding at times and wandering lost for long periods when he could not. James loved being outdoors and cherished solitude as he embraced nature. He loved writing poetry, playing guitar and meeting people. He was preceded in death by his mother Linda B. DeClercq Leff McGrew. He is survived by his father Everett A. Leff (Phoenix, Arizona), his siblings Micheal (Diana) Leff (Peoria, Arizona), Timothy Leff (North Dinwiddie, Virginia), Patricia (Ralph) Mussatto (Phoenix, Arizona), Jason (Hilary) Leff (Bedford, Indiana), his daughter Christian Leff (Sarasota, Florida), aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Since he treasured having a St. Patrick's Day birthday, his memorial will be held on March 14, 2020 (the Saturday before what would have been his 50th birthday). Services will be at Christ Church of the Valley's North Phoenix campus located at 19th Street, Phoenix, Arizona at 10:00 am.
