Date of Death: June 12, 2020
John Delano Mickels was born on October 21, 1974 to Hubert Mickels, Jr. and Annie Lois [Sanders] Mickels in Lincoln Park, Michigan. He was the third born of nine children. He gave his life to Jesus at an early age and was baptized on October 19, 1980 at True Light Worship Center in Detroit, Michigan. As John grew older, his life led him from the path of righteousness. John recommitted his life to Jesus around the age of 25 and was re-baptized at Vineyard Church North Phoenix in early 2000 where he served faithfully for several years. Upon graduating high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he worked as an Administrator in the basic supply division while stationed in Japan. John's walk with the Lord took him into some dark areas of life but John remained steadfast in his faith. He attended various churches in Arizona until his death. John ministered to others no matter what circumstances he found himself in. He loved music, (played trumpet and keyboards), singing, writing poetry and songs. He established his own business (give JUSTUS PrOsE a Try, LLC) in February, 2016 so he could do the things he loved for others. He was a warrior and put up a good fight in life. John departed this life at the age of 45 on June 12, 2020 at his residence in Scottsdale, AZ. He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Hubert and Annie Mickels , three brothers, Kevin (Glendale, AZ), Michael and Aaron (both of Fredericksburg, VA,; five sisters, (all living in Arizona) Mary, (Glendale) Elizabeth (Glendale), Sheila (Tucson), LeAnne (Scottsdale) and Kimberly (Glendale); one brother-in-law, Jeffrey Bardzik, Sr.; two sister-in-laws, Wytonea Kennedy and Chandra Mickels; ten nieces, Tiadra, Jasmine, and Briana Mickels, Liana and Lily Bardzik (all of Arizona), Adara Mickels (Ohio), Mikayla, Ariana, Alyssa and Aaliyah Mickels (Virginia); eight nephews, Kevin Brandon, Joseph, Joshua Mickels, Jeffrey, Jr and Jacob Bardzik (all of Arizona) Aaron, Jr, Michael, Jr and Jeremiah Mickels (Virginia); nine aunts; seven uncles; and a host of cousins, and other relatives and friends. His maternal grandparents, John and Hessie Sanders; paternal grandparents, Hubert, Sr. and Mary Mickels predeceased him. “THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH” (From John’s Journal entry of June 6, 2012) We were born into sin We are all sinners To walk in the ‘light’ of sin is to reap the benefits or investment that it rewards. The maturity of its fullness of growth ultimately brings death. As being redeemed from this ‘curse’ or disease we must choose to invest in ‘Life’ which requires decisions or choices that we know to be ‘right’ or learned through scripture (God’s Word}. This is done by the Spirit ‘Holy Spirit’ that guides us through this ugly state of our wretchedness. It is only through this investment that we are able to see our brother, guide, teacher, High Priest, in His glory of providing a way for us through the Spirit of knowing the Law and being obedient to it, allowing all followers afterward to believe in it and follow in it even unto death which is what He did. His blood was the base for future blessing and grace. Amen! CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE!
