Joy Cecelia Baker, age 66, peacefully passed away Wednesday May 15th 2019 surrounded by family in Phoenix, Arizona. Daughter of Eleanor & Hubert Foussat along with Henry & Racheal Cruz. From her life’s debut, October 13th 1952, Joy adored and celebrated spending time with family and friends: sharing her passionate love for music and singing with them. During her high school years, Joy was the female vocalist for the band The Laymen. Raised in Oceanside and, throughout her life, living in San Diego CA, Irvine CA, Centennial CO, Highlands Ranch CO, Santa Fe NM and Scottsdale AZ, the musician in her led her to perform karaoke and sing melodies wherever she found herself. Her natural desire to dazzle also materialized in her passion for entertaining and making a beautiful home. Still, she shared the beauty in her with others by volunteering with Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. Left to honor and cherish her life are daughter Shawndee Yenche, son in law Eric, grandchildren Cameron, Taeya and Syrena of Carlsbad, former husband and good friend Brain Baker. Step mother Rachel Cruz of Carlsbad, Sisters Arlene Steinike of Wis.
