It is with great sadness, the family of Kenneth H. Day announces his passing at home Friday December 14, 2018 surrounded by his family after a very courageous battle with cancer. The son of the late George and Viola Day, he was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He attended Kings Collegiate School in Windsor, Nova Scotia and Dalhousie University in Halifax where he made lifelong friendships producing many a tale that he would share throughout his life. He was an active member of Brightwood Golf and Country Club, Dartmouth Curling Club and supported the equestrian activities of his daughters, Karen and Cherie. During his time in Nova Scotia, Ken worked alongside his father at Dartmouth Asphalt and Maritime Sand and Gravel, later joining Steed and Evans Limited as Vice President and Partner, a position that took him across Canada and the United States and in between paving many bridge decks. Land development brought him to Pennsylvania and later to Arizona in 1978 where he called home for 40 years. He developed multiple projects including Gila Springs in Chandler, Arizona and The Quadrangles in Tempe, Arizona and a retirement community and subdivisions in Pennsylvania. Ken was an active member of the Phoenix Country Club for many years; between his passion for work and love of golf and his family, he and Sheila could always be found at piano /orchestra concerts, swim meets, baseball games and golf tournaments with their twins, Andrew and Sarah. He enjoyed the motor home spending every summer crossing many states and provinces in the USA and Canada. He is survived by his first wife, Ann (Tony) their two daughters, Karen (Angus) and Cherie (William) and their children and grandchildren. Ken is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sheila, and their two children Sarah, Andrew (Staci) and two grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Episcopal Parish of Christ Church of the Ascension, 4015 East Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, Arizona 85253 on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:00 am.
