As a young woman, her parents suffered some unforeseen disabilities and became unable to care for Lorraine and her siblings. Their care was entrusted to their Uncle Greg and Aunt Emma Janson. They joined a family that had 14 other children. She embraced and loved her now very large family. Those cousins felt like siblings, and she had the experience of a second set of parents. Lorraine was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Webster University. Her journey as a lifelong educator started at these institutions. She worked with Elementary and Secondary Children as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Education Department at Lindenwood College. She retired from Francis Howell in 1999. She earned a Certification of Pastoral Ministry in 1998 from the Archdiocese of St. Louis and later became and an Annulment Advocate for the Archdiocese of St Louis. Lorraine enjoyed traveling and collecting Light Houses and glass birds. She enjoyed time with friends, playing games, feeding/watching the birds, particularly Cardinals, and time with her grandchildren and abundant family. Those skills as a teacher were always utilized in her activities in helping organize family reunions and the multiple activities in parish life at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, St Charles Mo, Holy Family, Hannibal, MO and later at St Clair of Assisi Church, Ellisville Mo. Even when she moved to a Sr Living Community, she managed to take on organizational tasks as long as her health allowed. Lorraine is survived by her children Mary Susan & James Brannen, Matthew & Wendy Schneider, and Michael Schneider, Grandsons Michael Westgate and Benjamin Schneider, her siblings Tom Steinbach, Roger Steinbach, and Fran Mesplay, many Nieces, Nephews, and several of her surrogate Janson siblings.
