In Loving Memory of Marissa Yvette Saunders Sunrise May 20, 1967 – Sunset January 13, 2021 Anyone soothed by a gentle breeze on a hot summer day knows the quiet touch of Marissa. Never conspicuous, undeniably generous, her giving spirit will be sorely missed. She departed this earth not when we were ready, but rather when God determined her mission finished. She celebrated others and helped them to shine. Her sense of humor so often came right on time. She loved to crochet. She loved to knit. Rarely did an addition to her family, biological or extended, go without a gift. She cherished numerous close friendships, never taking people for granted. So many of us woke up to a text, a meme, or some other special wish she daily planted. She worked as a civil servant in the United States Bankruptcy court for over twenty years. So many stunned friends there, now grateful to have worked with her during their careers. Marissa had a few favorite things, like the Bee Gees, Garrett’s popcorn (Chicago mix) and her beloved dog Sasha. QVC, HSN, UPS, Gevalia, must somehow survive, without one of their best customers staying up late ordering matcha. Survived by her loving father Harold and her sister Diandrea, two nephews, her Aunt Jacquelyn and Aunt Sandra, her godson, along with a host of other cousins, extended family and friends, Marissa will by missed here on earth. One of her last posts on Facebook said Dear Marissa, you shed so many tears in 2020. But in 2021 I will make sure you that the only tears you shed will be tears of joy. A bright future awaits you and I will not let anything stand between you and your happiness. You deserve it. Love, God. Imagine Marissa’s joy being reunited with her loving mother Tamara and grandmothers Willie Bell and Baba. Hopefully later this year, near her birthday on May 20, it will be safe to gather and we will gather to celebrate her life.
When it is safe, hopefully near her birthday, May 20,2021
