Date of Birth: October 29, 1939
Date of Death: June 11, 2022
Marlene Kay McClelland, 82, of Phoenix Arizona passed away on June 11, 2022. Marlene was the beloved wife of deceased husband George. She was preceded by death by her brother Robert and her grandson Jeffery. She is survived by her sister Joan. She was a proud mother of three boys; Greg (Laurie), Stephen (Bonnie), and Chris (Terri) and step-mother to Debra, Sue, Sharon and Linda. Marlene was a cherished grandmother to Michael, Casey, Kevin, Joshua M, Adam, Erin, Troy, Eric, Joshua A, Shelly, Justin, David and great-grandmother of 6. Marlene was born in Dayton Ohio and raised in Davison Michigan. Her adult life was full of twists and turns that she handled with grace and enthusiasm. She married her high school sweetheart and began building a family. The marriage didn’t last leaving Marlene at a crossroads. She met George and his four daughters “and they knew it was much more than a hunch, that this group must somehow form a family”. It wasn’t exactly the Brady Bunch, but Marlene and George took the step out of step-parent and helped raise all seven children as their own. During this time Marlene worked in school administration with a short hiatus as a buyer for a clothing store which was a perfect fit with her passion for shopping. The family spent time every summer camping throughout northern Michigan. Marlene and George moved to Arizona after their children had grown and enjoyed spending time at Canyon Lake on the pontoon boat that they shared with their lifelong friends Mike and Virginia. Sadly her husband was taken too early forcing Marlene to recalculate again. She began to meet more groups of friends and form meaningful relationships. Every new circle of friends brought new opportunities that she made the most of. She enjoyed summers in Pinetop Arizona and she took up golf, likely for the wardrobe. The majority of her last 15 years were spent living in San Clemente California with her boyfriend Dick. Many friendships were formed as she embraced the California lifestyle. She was introduced to the sport of horse racing. She enjoyed many trips to Del Mar race track and Las Vegas. It was a life well lived and she left her mark wherever life took her.

Aunt Marlene was so kind and giving and will no doubt be remembered endlessly by many because of this and so much more.

I have the privilege to call her my step mom. I couldn’t ask for a better one. As stated we became the Brady Bunch with so many stores toe tell. I have been truly blessed for the family I was able to have because of what she made us. I love you very much Marlene and always will❤️❤️ I am so glad I came to see her a few months ago. Even though she was sick we were still able to spend quality time together and for that I am thankful…
I was lucky enough to know both Marlene and Dick and was their tenant for 7+ years in the apartment over their garage in San Clemente. Got to hit Las Vegas and Del Mar with them frequently. I would also try and solve anything that went mechanically wrong in their house. They were great people and will miss them dearly! Marlene was like a second mom to me!
