Mary Jo D. (Ossipinsky) Polimeni, 72, a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on October 23rd, 2023. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, John J. Polimeni Sr, youngest son, Thomas Michael, and her parents, John J. and Vincenza Ossipinsky. Mary Jo was born on August 29th, 1951, in Claire, Illinois. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and after graduating from F.D.R. High School, she married John and started a family. A few years later, Mary Jo and John relocated their Family to Staten Island where she worked for the New York Board of Education. Balancing motherhood with the care of three young boys, she pursued higher education and, after dedicated years, earned her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Phoenix. Mary Jo retired from the State of Arizona as a Supervising Manager with the Department of Child Protective Services. She loved time with her family, enjoying many home cooked meals, watching the Mets and Diamondbacks, spending time with friends and family enjoying music, and dancing the night away. She was also actively involved and served as President of the Sons of Italy, Italian American Club of Staten Island. Mary Jo leaves behind a beautiful legacy defined by love, trust, respect, and a profound appreciation for family. Her legacy lives on through her sons Philip (Jennifer) and John Jr (fiancé Beth), her cherished grandchildren, Alex, Elizabeth, Brooklyn, Johnny, Paige, Katelyn, and Chloe, her sisters Susan (Jerry) Villano and Vincenza (Richie) Ossipinsky Milo, brothers John (Eileen) Ossipinsky and Steven Ossipinsky, beloved nieces, nephews, and the numerous friends she made a part of her life over the years. Her legacy will endure through the memories she blessedly created and shared and may the tales of love and laughter never be overshadowed by tears of sorrow.

Service Information

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on November 9th at 10a.m. @ 3220 W Greenway Rd Phoenix, AZ 85053. Mary Jo's earthly remains will be cremated and interred next to her husband, John, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in North Phoenix, where their souls will be reunited for eternity.
