Date of Death: June 12, 2021

Mary Louise Whitehead died on June 12, from medical complications of a stroke. She was born February 1, 1928, in Gardner, Tennessee, to Goldie and Dee Willey Foley (deceased). She married at age 17 to Paul Whitehead (deceased 12 years ago). She is survived by two children, Anita Bellinger (nee Whitehead) and William E. Whitehead, their spouses, Douglas Bellinger, and Jan Busby-Whitehead, three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Anita and Doug lived adjacent to Louise and took wonderful care of her during a long and happy life in Phoenix, Arizona. Louise was known to all for her love of family, her kindness to friends, and her passion for things she could make with her hands. She made clothes for her family and worked at factories to make shoes and men’s underwear. She was a natural leader and was the supervisor of 800 employees making underwear in Glendale, Arizona. Her family passion was devoted to encouraging education in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She only completed the ninth grade, but she sacrificed to send her son to graduate school in psychology. She gave prizes to each of six great-grandchildren when they graduated from high school. She led the way. She was courageous throughout life. She overcame many obstacles to hold her family together and to give them courage. She will be greatly missed.
