Maureen Elizabeth Wade (63) died with her family at her side on April 19, 2021. She was born the youngest child of Eugene and Jeanne Treadwell Fish on June 30, 1957, in Sparta, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Arizona with her Baccalaureate in Nursing in 1980, and then worked for 10 years as an RN specializing in oncology and HIV/AIDS care. For the next 3 decades, she worked in healthcare management in various positions. She was the Arizona Care Manager for United Healthcare; Manager of Medical Management for AHCCCS; Director of Clinical Operations for Aetna; Assistant Vice President for Medical Management at Scripps Health Plan Services before returning to her beloved Southwest desert as Director of Case Management at Centene Corporation. She served on the Board of Directors of Greater Southwest Arthritis Foundation, and as a member of the Arizona Diabetes Coalition, Arizona HIV Coalition, and Arizona Asthma & Allergy Coalition. In 1987 she met her husband Dwight Mitchell Wade and went on to raise their blended family of 4 children in Yuma and Phoenix. A leader and innovator in her field, a teacher and mentor to countless health care professionals, she was also a lover of USC Trojan and Arizona Cardinals football, a consummate shopper with a flawless sense of style, a connoisseur of food and a gifted chef. She and Dwight travelled to France, England, Ecuador, and NYC; her children and grandchildren loved her style, her appreciation of theater and musicals, her tireless appreciation and collection of Mexican folk art, her hip and youthful knowledge of culture. She was a generous mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend, always helping family and friends in need. She loved her lattes and her chardonnay, had a wicked sense of humor, and remained dedicated to the health and well being of others to the last moment of her life. But her strong, joyful, and wise heart belonged to her children and grandchildren, her husband, and her sisters and brother. She was our inspiration, our constant, fun-loving Mom, Grandmother, Wife, and Sister. Her children Angela Mitchell (Shawn) and Margaret Klever (Tim) and her grandchildren Gabriella, Elise, and Jonah Mitchell, her stepchildren Robert Wade (Ana) and Stephanie Wade (deceased) and their children Robert and Jack Wade, and her siblings Anne-Marie Hall (Phil), Carolyn Belles (Mark), Catherine Kirk, and William Fish along with 10 nieces and nephews miss her terribly but will go forward better for having been touched by her love. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) in memory of Maureen Wade, or donate to a charity of your choice.
