Opal Shaver, 92, of Phoenix, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in Phoenix, AZ.  She was born on May 21, 1921 to the late Walter and Dessie (Bowling) Savage in Plumerville, AR.  She graduated from Plumerville High School.  Opal moved to Arizona in 1945.  She worked for Arden Ice Cream and Upton Candy for several years.  Opal later worked for See’s Candies full and part time for 25 years; retiring in 1997.  She was a member of the Devonshire Senior Center, where she volunteered, played Bingo, and had lunch with friends.  Opal continued to volunteer after she was diagnosed with cancer.  She was presented the 2010-2011 Inspirational Volunteer of the Year award by Devonshire Senior Center.  Opal is survived by her Daughter – Jacki Ahlman; 2 Sons – Walter Shaver, and William Shaver; 6 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Mary Frances Jones, and Jean Smith; 1 Brother, JW Savage; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in West Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, Arizona, with Paul Schwartz officiating.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Best Funeral Services – North Central Chapel.
