Date of Birth: June 20, 1939
Date of Death: April 22, 2019
Patricia Ann Newnam-Wells , 79, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother "GG", aunt, long lost family member and loyal friend, traded her earthly tent for her body that will be whole and healthy in heaven. 2 Corinthians 5. She left this world behind the morning of April 22nd at 3:00 a.m. in the comfort of her own home, which she shared with her daughter Joyce for the past many years and truly looked peaceful, surrounded by loved ones, there at her side and those that got the chance to visit, call, and send their love in the days prior. She was born in Chicago in 1939 at home to Alvina and Ray Wells. She grew up in the Chicago area and lived briefly in California where her first daughter Joyce was born, then moved back to Chicago in 1961. Her son Wayne was welcomed to the world the following year. Laura, the youngest, also came into this world several years later. When asked the question, what was she most proud of, she replied that it was her children. We did give her a run for her money! She made life long friends throughout her life's journey and kept in touch with most of them. She attended Hirsch High School and lived in the Chicago area until the family moved to Phoenix in the early 70's. She worked as a waitress for many years in Phoenix and finally retired from St. Joseph's Hospital as the birth registrar, following a breast cancer diagnosis. She then took a job she loved working at Central Christian Supply. Not being able to just enjoy retirement, she also dog sat for several wonderful people. Family and friends were the most important part of her life. She went out of her way to do special things for all of them tirelessly and created many memories along the way. Cancer took a toll on her, but she persevered through it the best she could. She fell and broke her hip in early February and her tattered tent found the surgery and rehab journey too much on her already tired body. She is survived by her three adult children, Joyce (Terry), Wayne (Hiroe) and Laura (Rob), six grandchildren (Parker, Jenna, Jessica, Madisyn, Kent, Kristi), and three great grandchildren (Ryan, Ryley, Hunter). One grandchild preceded her in death, Giovanni (Jovan). She was also preceded in death by siblings, Bonnie, MaeBelle, George, George (yes another George), Ray, and Geraldine, her mother and father. She would proudly tell you that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior! The Walk to Emmaus also played a key role in her life. Until we meet again, you will always be close in our hearts and just a memory away always. XOXOXOXO
