Raymond Earl Nance was born December 3, 1931 and raised in Lexington, Missouri. He was the son of Mary Pearl (Goodman)and George Cornelius Nance. Raymond had three brothers, George Russell, Ethan Allan and James Burthon. He had one sister, Eleanor Juanita. Raymond attended the little one-room schoolhouse, Cabbage Neck School, near Wellington, Missouri. After the loss of his mother at the age of nine, Raymond and his siblings were raised by their grandmother, Minnie Pearl Laforce-Nance. Raymond joined the United States Air Force when he was 17 years old. He married Doris Lee Paris, of Lexington, Missouri, in 1954. During his years of service, he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, Guam, Hof, Germany, Brindisi, Italy, Thailand and various bases in the United States. Raymond retired in 1969 while stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona. After retiring from the USAF, Raymond returned to Lexington and worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol. In 1975, he and Doris moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Eventually, Raymond retired again and lived in Sun City, Arizona until 2022. Raymond and Doris had four children: Joyce Elaine Kelley, (Gary), of Goodyear, Arizona, Mary Rae Dean Beretta, of Mesa, Arizona, Raymond Earl Nance, Jr., (Pam), of Albany, Georgia. Raymond’s youngest son, George Robert Nance, (Joanne) of Nevada, preceded him in death, January, 31, 2022. Raymond had 11 grandchildren: Christy Bartels, (Randy), Dezarae Kennady, (Travis), Braden Beretta, Amber Butler, (Jason), Autumn Nance, Destiny York, (Kevin), Catherine Nance, Robert Nance, William Nance, (Jennie), Zachary Nance and Thaddeus Nance. Raymond had 15 great grandchildren: Rebecca Bartels, USAF Staff Sgt Justin Bartels, Corbyn Schmaltz, Caiden Kennady, Kobe Kennady, Kali York, Conner York, Durrah Butler, Porter Butler, Allana Hurley, Magnum Hurley, Coltin Hurley, Iris Nance, Lily Nance, and Mike Nance. Raymond was loved by his many nieces and nephews.
