RETIRED TSGT GREGORY DAN WRIGHT Greg was called to heaven on 31 August 2021 he passed very peacefully in Arizona with all of his loving family present. He will most likely get a Head Cook Position in Heaven. Greg was born on 23 June 1951 to Mr. Merritt Wright and Leona Griffith Wright. He leaves his Cherished Wife Ethel “Sadie” Wright and also his Beautiful Daughter Melissa and Granddaughters Chelsea and Alena. He also leaves his treasured brothers Steve who is deceased, his other brother Emerson and his wife Diane that live in Florida, and several cherished sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws Nieces and Nephews. Retired TSgt Wright graduated in 1970 from Milton High School in Milton Vermont. He immediately joined the United States Air Force as a Cook and retired in 1991. TSgt Wright was a Vietnam and Desert Storm Veteran, other assignments included two tours to Minot North Dakota, Alaska, Germany, Thailand, Plattsburgh New York, Camp O’ Donald in the Philippine Islands and at Gila Bend Auxiliary Field in Arizona. Awards, Ribbons and Medals Retired Technical Sergeant Wright received are: Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal. Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with Three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Training Ribbon, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Greg loved his family dearly and always put them first. Greg was known as a very compassionate, kind, and generous person and would help anyone he could. Greg loved the Catholic Cursillo Movement and was the Head Cook for eleven Cursillos at the Mount Claret Retreat Center in Scottsdale Arizona. Greg was also a 25 year member of the Phoenix Sister Cities as a member of the Taipei Committee which he really enjoyed, and he and his wife Sadie worked a lot of Chinese New Year Celebrations.

Service Information

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Saint Clement of Rome Catholic Church at 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd. Sun City, AZ 85351 on Friday, 1 October 2021 at 10:00 A.M. The Post 62 American Legion Honor Guard will stand to attention for a half hour before the mass as people arrive at the church and also march into the church to accompany the delivery of Greg’s Urn. Following the mass there will be a burial ceremony held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona located at 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024 with full military honors. Anyone that is planning to attend the burial services at the National Cemetery and would like to go to lunch please RSVP ASAP, at 623-640-8813. On Friday, 29 October 2021 at 1000 A.M. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Greg at the Mount Claret Retreat Center at 4633 N. 54th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85018. This mass will be celebrated by Father John Hannigan. Greg’s family would like to send Greg a final salute he was an Awesome Husband, Dad and Grandfather
