Richard Lavin, age 82, passed away Sept. 18, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona, while attempting to recover from hip surgery. He was born April 14th, 1936 in Carteret, New Jersey, to parents Edwin and Dorothy Lavin. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1955 thru 1958 and while stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, fell in love with Arizona. Upon moving back to New Jersey, he married his sweetheart Yolanda Ternyila and had 58 years together before her passing in 2016. He went to work for Delta Airlines, Newark Airport, in New Jersey and eventually was able to transfer with Delta to Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, Arizona, where he worked until retiring after 34 years of service. He loved family, fishing, and in his later years taking rides in his 2016 Mustang. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Yolanda, and his brothers Joe and Ed. He is survived by brother Bob, half-brother Ed, children Linda (Mike) Holloway, Amy Lavin, Eric Raisch, Richard (Cindy) Lavin, grandchildren Andrew (Bri) Holloway, Ryan (Amanda) Holloway, & Emily Holloway, along with great-grandchildren Caleb, Kaiden, Nathan, Kiley, Keegan, Alyssa, and Kohen.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Banner Thunderbird Hospital and Life Care Center of North Glendale. They were amazing. There will be no public services per Richards wishes.
