Richard Leon Long, also known as Rich, passed away on October 11, 2023, at the age of 84 in Peoria, AZ. He was born on November 8, 1938, in Vestaburg, Michigan. Rich was an honorable man known for his reliability and honesty, almost to a fault. He was a comfort to everyone, always taking care of those around him. Rich is survived by his ex-wife Kathleen, daughters Roxann and DeeAnn, grandchildren Kara, Collin, Scarlett, Harleigh, and Wyatt, as well as great-grandchildren Bella, Dallas, Jameson, Jagger and Calliope. He is also survived by his brother Bob. He was preceded in death by his father Herb, mother Alma, and brothers Herb, Floyd, Alvin, and David. After serving in the Navy from 1959 to 1965, Rich became an expert in internal communications as an electrician. He worked for Executone and eventually owned his own business, R & D Systems. Rich also pursued higher education at Glendale Community College. In his free time, Rich enjoyed reading and going to the casino. He had a passion for knowledge and entertainment. Rich will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his honorable nature, and his commitment to serving his country. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Service Information
A ceremony to honor Rich's life will be held on October 26, 2023, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Best Funeral Home in Peoria, AZ, will be assisting with the arrangements.
