Sandra “Sandy” Joyce Gannon passed away in New River, Arizona on April 16, 2021 Sandy was born September 15th, 1942 in Chicago, IL. She resided in Skokie, IL during her high school years and moved to Des Plaines to raise her family in the late ‘60’s. With a legacy of unconditional love, Sandy leaves behind her husband of 58 years, James A. Gannon and their two daughters Laura (Dave) Weldon, and Kathy (Bob) Wicks, five grandchildren; Emily, Daniel and Michael Weldon and Matthew and Eric Wicks. Sandy was the oldest of three children and is survived by her two sisters, Pamela Schemke and Iris Mariani and is preceded in death by her father and mother, Bernard Meltzer and Ann (Cohn). Sandy was devoted to her family, first and foremost. She treasured her husband and two girls and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma, and was active in raising each of her grandchildren. Sandra was a partner with her husband, in their two businesses, J Gannon Landscaping and Snow Removal from 1964-1998 as well as Buy The Yard, Inc. from 1994-2005. Sandy was known for her quick wit, sense of humor, Christmas cookie gifts, quilting, RVing, volunteering at the local school and her optimistic outlook on life.
A memorial service to celebrate Sandy's life will be held at a later date.
