Sharon Kay Holder (Cookie) of Sun City, Arizona left this world to be with Jesus on January 7, 2023, at the age of 77. Cookie was born in Gary, Indiana on Monday, May 14, 1945, the seventh of eight children to the late Dexter and Vera (Golden) Holder. She was also preceded in death by her five brothers Bobby, Gary, Grant, Dwight and Roger. She is survived by her two sisters, Cynthia Yanez and Phyllis Phipps, as well as her beloved children: Robert Parmley, Jr and Sandra (Daniel) Remington. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Dustin (Carrie) Parmley and Morgen Parmley; and Faren Remington, Kendra Ghering, Caleigh Remington, Clayton Ghering and Asher Remington; and six great-grandchildren. Cookie was raised in Northern Indiana, where she lived until moving to Arizona in 1978. She enjoyed many positions throughout her career, but found her passion as a medical assistant which allowed her to express her devotion for helping people. After her children were grown, she moved to Arkansas to be closer to her parents, and spent time in Kentucky as well. In 2010, she returned to Arizona to be closer to her sisters, children and grandchildren. Cookie will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She embraced time with family and enjoyed reading, singing, dancing, laughing and playing card games with her parents and siblings. She enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people. She was happiest when she could help others. She loved to uplift and emotionally support people as much as possible. She took those in need into her home, welcomed them and loved them as Jesus would.

Service Information

The family will be conducting a second service, graveside, at the Smithville Cemetery, Smithville, Arkansas on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
