Virginia Stuart (Bailey) Allingham, “Ginger” died in Phoenix AZ on 10/29/21 at the age of 92, after a short illness. She was born March 10, 1929 in Phoenix AZ to Stuart Macrae Bailey and his wife Audra (Lawrence). Ginger graduated from Stephens College, and Washington University in St Louis, School of Nursing. She met Robert Miles Allingham in St Louis while he was a lieutenant in the Air Force. They married in Safford AZ in 1951 and were stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After they returned to Arizona, Ginger was a volunteer and philanthropist, enjoyed hiking the Grand Canyon with her girl scout troop, served a term as President of the Heard Museum Guild, and was a member of PEO. She loved to travel with her friends, and visited many countries. Ginger was a tough lady, surviving stage 4 ovarian cancer, and three spinal surgeries. She is survived by her children: Charles Allingham, Michael (Carol Baker) Allingham, Robin Allingham (Cliff) Veasey, and Elizabeth Allingham, 3 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Her husband Bob preceded her in death, after 65 years of marriage. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Girl Scouts or coltencowellfoundation.org.
